No Sudden Movements has won the Covenant Award for Folk/Roots Album of the Year.

I believe that success is only possible in community.  Therefore, I want to acknowledge the following people for their contribution to the project.

Curtis Tulman, Jon Buller, Michaela Burger, Bill Buckingham, Corey Janz, Gary Smyth, Scott Gamble, Cam Ward, Dean Clark, Sandra Babel, Geoff Holman, John Holman, Todd Avison, my family, and my wife Angela.

Thanks to all my friends at Willow Park Church for standing behind me for so long.  Thanks to everyone at Vernon Alliance.  You're support means so much.  Jane Eamon-you're so encouraging.  Be blessed.

To my dad, Doug Doak-thanks for passing on the fire.

There are many, many more of you to thank for all of your support during the last year.  May the Lord richly bless you-I am deeply grateful for you.

Corey

Listen to an interview with Corey Doak. Talking about how his latest album came aboot.

Singer/songwriter Corey Doak is releasing No Sudden Movements, a collection of experimental folk/gospel songs (almost half of which were written spontaneously in the studio). The album was produced in the basement of award winning artist-turned producer Curtis Tulman (The Cruzeros).

The result is an organic acoustic feel reminiscent of classic singer/songwriters such as Bob Dylan and James Taylor, but there is an element of artistic expression similar to bands such as Coldplay, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.

This is the second release from Deep Roots Recordings, a Kelowna based community of independent artists headed up by Doak. This ever-evolving artist's most recent album 'Light on the Darkest Line' was nominated for multiple Western Canadian Music Awards, Covenant Awards, and Okanagan Music Awards. Follow up for the album included a television appearance on 100 Huntley Street, a 5 week tour of Lithuania and Latvia, performances in Toronto, the Maritimes and the Western United States.
